June 17th-Thursday we celebrated Mark's birthday by going to the Original Pancake House for breakfast. I wanted the Apple pancake and Matthew said that we should share it--I wasn't sure but glad I did! It was more than enough for both of us. Later in the day we met with friends at a park at the base of Mount Rainier. It was beautiful. That night I watched the taped final "Lakers vs. Celtics". Went to bed happy!!
June 18th-Woke up at 5am to begin drive to SLC. We were able to get on the road by 6am (which I consider a minor miracle with four kids-great job Missy). The drive through the Cascade mountains was beautiful. The kids were sleeping-it was peaceful and calm. As we approached the Tri-cities area, I was remembering the letters that my son Sam had sent from there as a missionary. When to my wondering surprise I noticed a highway patrolman behind me with lights flashing. I did have the cruse set at 80 in a 70, but I didn't think that I would get stopped for that! He wrote the ticket! We arrived at Amy and Tyler's home in SLC at 9pm--a 15 hour marathon.
June 19th-Shirley Ann and I visited Tom & Diane and their family. Their whole family was there and it was good to catch up. We are grateful that Tom is doing well following his surgery. That night we attended the play in South Jordan that Amy and Tyler are in. Secret Garden! They were awesome! I don't think that there have ever been a better Lilly or Archibald! The music was wonderful and they both sang great.
June 20th-Father's Day! My family prepared a wonderful breakfast, together at church and a wonderful dinner. In the evening Shirley Ann and I visited Laura and Dennis and their family. We were able to visit with their whole family, so that was fun.
June 21st-We had lunch with Joyce and toured her new home (Ken out of town). Natalie joined us for lunch. It was very peaceful up there. That night Joyce, Missy and the kids joined us at the play (the music still is playing in my head).
June 22nd-6am Departed SLC for the drive home (Missy left Bountiful at 5:30am to pick me up in South Jordan-Amazing). The kids slept until Cedar City!! We stopped at my Father and Mother's in North Las Vegas and had lunch with them (Jarom was there-he just graduated from dental school UNLV. We are proud of him-Congratulations!). We had a great visit with them, I was especially happy that my grandchildren (Sam and Missy's kids) were able to spend a little time with my parents. Arrived home at 7pm.
A busy week, but I love being with family!
